RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr Midgleys current research is directed towards applied x-ray physics,

  • development of gas filled and solid state photon counting detectors, and low cost data acquisition modules.
  • understanding the relationship between diagnostic energy CT numbers and mega-voltage tissue interaction parameters.
  • reconstruction techniques for computed tomography.
  • the registration of multi-modality 3D data sets.
  • development of new compounds for clinical administration as radiographic contrast media.
  • exploiting emerging methods of materials analysis based upon elastic and inelastic x-ray scattering.
  • liasing with industry in the design and operation of x-ray based non-destructive testing instrumentation.
