Project Title: Tissue specific computed tomography
Summary: It is hypothesised that important new clinical information can be obtained from a computed tomography (CT) scan using an energy resolving x-ray detector array. The focus of the study would be to model and analyse the data from a CT detector, currently in development within the MCSS platform technology group. Such a detector would provide additional information on tissue attenuation coefficients in the CT data volume. This information would help to enhance the morphological definition of the regions of interest within the clinical tomographic image. The project would also focus on developing an optimal reconstruction algorithm to make best use of the energy resolved intensity provided by the detector. |
